I didn’t know that there was a semi-professional baseball team in Midland, MI, but we just had this great project in from a customer that we think turned out pretty amazing. A baseball bat and signed baseballs from the Great Lakes Loons.
Working in theme colors, we started with Nelson’s frame #L-3222, with extender #L-3223, making the box almost 3” deep. (We love this frame; it’s cost effective, and serves a lot of needs when you just need a “basic” frame.) To dress the frame up, we added Nelson’s #F-32 red, round fillet, and gave this basic frame its own personality.
The layout, with inside measurements of 20 X 38, is pretty cut and dry for simplicity, but what makes the piece an inspiring masterpiece is the mounting systems we used from Showcase Acrylics / Gemini Moulding. Easy to use, with no harm to any item, the design actually has room to grow, and the mountings can be reused. Finishing the project off with Tru-Vue Museum glass added the ability to feel as if you could reach in, and, well, “play ball!”
With a finished size of 22 x 40, the bat took about 3 hours to complete, and costs around $695, start to finish, using this great system of display.
