In Sheri’s words…
These works on paper have come to life because I am privileged to live here in
downtown Traverse City.
The roads I walk, bike and drive upon yield up continuous visual and musical
blessings that process out through my fingertips into these pieces. They come
from the sights and sounds you see and hear every day: the turquoise water and
sunshine glittering on East Bay as you pass the hotels while driving to Acme;
the community garden plots at The Grand Traverse Commons; sunlit front porches,
green lawns and flowers in full bloom in Central Neighborhood; the World Youth
Symphony Orchestra performing onstage at Interlochen with the lake showing off
in the background; vineyards, orchards and fields of sunflowers along the TART
Trail; classical music on Interlochen Public Radio beside my drawing table; the
Farmers’ Market and the Iris Farm; our Midtown neighbors; the Boardman River
filled with kayaks and fish; my women friends who knit and sew beautiful things
to wear and share.
My work comes from the privilege of living HERE, which fills me with gratitude
